Dancing Lights is a wonderfully told story. Moore's delightful prose made me smile. Her writing has a magical quality in every sentence and this unfolded in the plot, a native american legend? I have not read many native american themes but the strong bond between Carla and the dog was universal. I was surprised by the excerpt of Dancing On a Wire. The sample gave me a glimpse of sweet, naive Lucky - I hope she is lucky and resolves the past haunting her. Moore writes a young girl, well, it was sweet that lucky wondered if there was Buffalo in Buffalo. I like the setting at horse stables and look forward to more of Moore.

Dancing Lights edition by Inge Moore Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Well, she did. I have read way too long books that did not make me care about the main character, this one gave me a lifetime in 8 pages. Wow. Great job, that is a talent Ms. Moore. Thanks for writing "Dancing Lights"
This short story was not what I expected which made it interesting. It could have been longer and the characters, especially the dog owner could have been developed further. I wanted to know more about these strange people.
This short story was really weird, I felt like it could have been much more developed. It was a good read, certainly quite a different spin on a legend. It was well written, and well edited.
This short story carries a powerful emotional whallup. A subtile blend of reality and fantasy this story hinges on the choice every unwed mother must make. Deciding what is best for her child. Her decision is either tragic or redemptive. It is for the reader to decide.
Inge Moore's tale of a young pregnant woman's overwhelming despair made quite the impression on me. Dancing Lights is a beautifully written short story, with a minimum of well-chosen words providing an unforgettable scenario, one that seems insurmountable but all too soon arrives at the twisted yet satisfying ending I had not expected. Well done, author!
I actually really enjoyed this novella. It spoke about native American folklore for a tribe in Canada at Yellowknife, which was a good aspect of the story. I liked the story, but wish it was actually longer. I didn't want it to end so soon.
This being a short story, I expected the plot and the characters to be less-developed than in a novel, but this just left me rather cold. I never felt a connection to Carla or really to her plight. There was just so much lacking that I can't say it was a good story. The ending was quite strange as well, and it left me bemused. The author could have done so much more with this story, especially in light of the legend of the Dog-Rib people.
